Cherry Blossom is a fashion forward accessory that you will wear again and again. It keeps your shoulders warm, is an accent piece over your jacket, and will slip over a dress without being bulky.

KNITTED MEASUREMENTS

9”(23cm) X 51”(129.5cm)

MATERIALS

-Yarn used 6 oz (170g) Vanna’s Choice #301 Rose Mist. Alternative yarn choices, Lion Brand 100% Wool Fishermen’s, Patons Classic Wool, or any medium weight yarn that meets gauge.

-#9 (5.5mm) knitting needles or any size needed to meet gauge.

-Crochet hook for loose threads

-Tape measure

 

GAUGE

16 sts and 22rows=4”

A looser or tighter gauge will not affect the wear ability of this item.

 

Abbreviations

BO= bind off

CO= cast on

M1= make 1(pick up yarn between two stitches)

SKP= slip 1 st, knit 1 st and pass slipped st over. This is 1 decrease.

ST=Stockinette. Knit on right side, purl on wrong side

st=stitch

The body of Cherry Blossom shawlette is worked in a Honeycomb pattern, and the ties are worked in ST st.

 

CO 10 stitches, knit in ST for 7.5 inches (18.5cm), ending with a purl row.

 

INCREASE ROWS  (Knit1, M1, knit to next to last st, M1, Knit1)

Increase every other row on right side of work, until you have 37 st on needle. * The last increase row will one have M1 at beginning of row. *Note increase row is always on right side of work.

 

Scarf body is knit over 37 st, and Honeycomb pattern is worked over the center 33 st. *The first 2 and last 2 stitches are purled on right side of work and knit on wrong side of work, and are not counted in the Honeycomb Pattern directions. Always work first and last two stitches independently of Honeycomb Pattern.

 

 

 

HONEYCOMB

There are *16 rows for Honeycomb pattern, so starting with the right side (ST) facing you begin pattern. *Always slip st to wrong side of work.

 

Row 1-Purl all stitches.

Row2- Knit all stitches.

Row3- Purl all stitches.

Row4- Purl 8 st, slip 3 st, * purl 11 st, slip 3 st, repeat from * to last 8 st purl.

Row5- Knit 8 st, slip 3 st, *knit 11, slip 3 st, repeat from * to last 8 st, knit.

Row 6-Purl 8 st, slip 3 st, *purl 11 st, slip 3st, repeat from * to last 8 st purl.

Row 7- Knit 8 st, slip 3 st, *knit 11 st, slip 3 st, repeat from * to last 8 st, knit.

Row 8-Purl8 st, slip 3 st, *purl11 st, slip 3 st, repeat from * to last 8 st, purl.

Row 9-Purl all stitches.

Row 10-Knit all stitches.

Row 11-Purl all stitches.

Row 12- Purl 1 st, slip 3 st, * purl 11, slip 3 st, repeat from * to last st, purl.

Row 13- Knit 1 st, slip 3 st, *knit 11, slip 3 st, repeat from * to last st, knit.

Row 14- Purl 1 st, slip 3 st, *purl 11, slip 3 st, repeat from * to last st, purl.

Row 15- Knit 1 st, slip 3 st, * knit 11, slip 3 st, repeat from * to last st, knit.

Row 16- Purl 1 st, slip 3 st, *purl 22, slip 3 st, repeat from * to last st, purl.

Repeat until Honeycomb Pattern measures 27 inches (68.5cm) and finish pattern on a wrong side row.

DECREASE ROWS

With right side facing begin decreases as follows;

On right side rows SKP, knit all st until last two st on needle, SKP. Continue until there are 10 st left on needle. The last decrease row will only have 1 SKP. Knit in ST for 7.5 inches (18.5 cm), BO.

FINISHING: Weave in all loose ends. Block St st areas but leave Honeycomb unblocked for added texture.
